By train
Bertinoro is easily reachable by train from Milan, Bologna, or Rimini, which all have some good train connections from several cities in central Europe, including day and/or night trains from e.g. Frankfurt, Paris, Munich, Vienna, and Zurich. Italian train schedules can be found at trenitalia.com. The closest train stations are Forlì and Cesena; consider both as destinations when searching for trains. From there, Bertinoro is only a short taxi ride away; see below.

Bologna or Milan Train Station to Forlì/Cesena Train Station
Numerous trains run between Bologna and Forlì/Cesena. The trip takes 30-45 minutes depending on the train type.
From Milan, the high-speed Frecciarossa trains take about 1h 45min to Forlì/Cesena. Check for both destinations, since only every other train stops at either of the two stations.

Forlì/Cesena Train Station to Bertinoro
The simplest way to reach Bertinoro from Forlì/Cesena is to take a taxi. The trip takes about 20-25 minutes, should cost around 30-40 EUR, and you may ride-share with 3-4 people.By plane
For those flying in, the nearest major airport is the Bologna Guglielmo Marconi International Airport (BLQ) which has good connectivity to many major European locations. You may also want to check for flights to the Rimini (RMI) Federico Fellini Airport, reachable from several European cities via low cost companies.
Another possibility, especially for those arriving from North America, is to arrive at one of the two Milan airports (which have direct flights from a number North American cities) then proceed to the Milan Central Train Station, take a train to Forlì, and from there continue by taxi to Bertinoro. If you arrive at Rimini Airport, you should take a train (direction Bologna or Milan), get off at Cesena (about a 20-minute trip), and then take a taxi to Bertinoro.
